These Eerie Coincidences Between IPL and WPL Finals Go Viral After KKR's Triumph Over SRH
What? WPL and IPL final had coincidences so eerie that fans couldn't wrap their heads around. Here's what they were.

Did you catch the intriguing parallel between KKR’s triumph in the IPL 2024 Final and the showdown between RCB and DC in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 Final? A viral post on ‘X’ highlighted the uncanny similarities between the two matches, adding a thrilling twist to the cricket narrative.

In the IPL finale, under Shreyas Iyer’s leadership, KKR clinched a convincing win over SRH led by Pat Cummins in Chennai. They managed to restrict the usually formidable SRH to their lowest-ever final total of 113 runs, all wrapped up in just 18.3 overs.

Meanwhile, in the WPL Final held on March 17, RCB replicated this feat against DC, bundling them out for the same score and within the same number of overs. What makes it even more intriguing is that both SRH and DC had the captains of both the men’s and women’s Australian national teams at their helm.

Adding to the intrigue, both Pat Cummins and Meg Lanning, who led their respective sides, came into the tournaments riding high on victories against India in major ICC finals. However, their winning streaks didn’t translate into success in the IPL 2024 and WPL 2024 Finals.

The internet went wild with this incredible coincidence, sparking frenzied discussions among cricket enthusiasts worldwide.

As for the game itself, SRH, after winning the toss, opted to bat first, a decision that backfired spectacularly. KKR’s ace pacer, Mitch Starc, set the tone early by dismissing SRH’s opener Abhishek Sharma with a brilliant delivery in the very first over. Vaibhav Arora followed suit, sending Travis Head packing for a duck in the next over. The collapse of SRH’s batting lineup restricted them to a mere 113 runs, surpassing CSK’s record in IPL 2013.

In response, KKR, led by Shreyas Iyer, displayed confidence from the outset, with Venkatesh Iyer and Rahmanullah Gurbaz orchestrating a stellar 91-run partnership that sealed the deal for their third IPL title.
