The human eyes can see a variety of colours. But often they get tricked and cannot see what is right in front of them. This is called an optical illusion. Sometimes it is deliberate, but often in nature, an optical illusion can camouflage the danger.
A photo was shared by IFS officer Ramesh Pandey on X (formerly known as Twitter) and the internet kept wracking their brains to spot the wildcat camouflaged amid the mountainous terrain capped with snow. A wild snow leopard is referred to as the “Ghost of the Mountain” as it can excellently camouflage itself in the rocky terrain covered with snow. This has left the internet confused and struggling to spot the “phantom cat”. While some thought that the photo was a joke, upon careful inspection a leopard can indeed be spotted.
IFS Ramesh Pandey wrote, “Phantom Cat. They are called the ghosts of the mountains. If you can locate.” He also credited the photographer who captured the snap, Ryan Cragun who resides in Utah, USA.

A few comments read, “It’s really hard to locate it, sir!!” Another wrote, “Indeed a Phantom..master camouflage.” One more wrote, “Hard to locate.” Those who could find it, wrote, “It took me 10 mins to find the snow leopard!”
If you can spot the mountain leopard in 10 seconds, it means you have the vision of an eagle. So zoom in or zoom out, find out the cat in 10 seconds.
If you would have looked carefully, you may have found the wildcat. If not, then don’t worry, just like you, many have struggled as well. Hint: Zoom in around the centre and look towards the top right. If you still could not spot it, then find the answer below.
These elusive wildcats are stealthy predators and ferocious carnivores who can freeze their movement. They can also use their sharp vision to inspect the mountainous terrain for threats or food.
