A team of Tamil Nadu forest officers has received widespread praise from social media users for their heroic efforts in rescuing a baby elephant trapped in a water channel at the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. IAS officer Supriya Sahu expressed gratitude to the rescue squad and posted brief videos of the rescue mission on X (formerly Twitter). She applauded the team for successfully reuniting the baby elephant with its mother after a dramatic rescue operation.
While on regular patrol, the forest crew noticed the baby elephant struggling to come out of the water channel. The concerned mother elephant was found just a few metres away, patiently waiting for her little one to be rescued. A rescue team was sent to the location right away. They worked hard to free the young elephant from the water channel and successfully reunite it with its mother.
To ensure their safety, a dedicated crew was deployed to watch the duo. “During regular patrolling Mudumalai Tiger Reserve field staff found a baby elephant struggling to come out of a water channel. The mother was found a few metres away from the calf. A team was immediately deployed which successfully rescued and united the baby elephant with the waiting mother,” IAS officer Sahu’s post read.
She further lauded the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve team, led by Deputy Director Vidya. “Kudos to the team for their quick response and fabulous effort,” IAS officer Sahu wrote towards the end of her post.
