Wildlife clips on social media make for an entertaining watch. Along with giving information about how animals live in their habitats, their face-offs make some of the most interesting videos. These face-offs show that often, luck takes a twist and a predator gets in trouble while dealing with their prey if they don’t play it well. One such video of a lion’s cub scared of a herd of buffaloes has gone viral on YouTube. The video shows the cub escaping from his sitting place as soon as the buffaloes reach his habitat. Soon, many buffaloes enter the cub’s place and the video shows the latter atop the tree to save his life. The cub tries to look for a way to escape, but the buffaloes surround the tree from all sides and block his exits. In a startling turn, the cub slips halfway from the tree and one of the buffaloes tries to attack him with his horns. The lion tries to regain his balance but ends up falling on the ground and breaking the tree’s branch as well.
The people shooting this incident shrieked and probably thought that the buffalo’s herd would attack the cub and kill him.The cub escaped quickly as the branch fell on the buffalo, hurting him and diverting his attention. The herd again tries to catch the cub but the latter is too fast for them and escapes.
As described in the video’s description, Nic Andrew, a wildlife photographer and safari guide, recorded this footage and shared it on a YouTube channel. The description mentions that a total of 1,000 buffaloes were surrounding the lion’s cub.
Social media users were enthralled to watch the video. One of them commented, “That was breathtaking, heart-pounding, nail-biting …this cub is a serious survivor and will make it through to adulthood & hopefully a leader one day! My blessings to this beautiful survivor! Amen!". Another commented," This cub learnt a big lesson to never wander out too far when going out to play".
A similar video went viral in 2023 in which a lion was scared of a herd of buffaloes and climbed atop the tree.
This clip garnered 3.3 million views.
