If the chaos caused by ticketless passengers flooding passages and seats on Indian trains wasn’t enough, a woman without a ticket took this audacious behaviour to another level by refusing to vacate a seat that wasn’t hers. In a now-viral video, the middle-aged lady could be seen engaging in a heated argument with some men, adamantly refusing to let the man with a reserved ticket have his seat.
“Meri seat nahi hai (It is not my seat),” she admitted without hesitation when questioned by the rightful occupant of the reserved seat she had occupied. The man requested her to vacate but to no avail. “Aap TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner) ko bulaiye. TTE aayega, tab baat karenge (Call the TTE. I will speak to him),” she retorted in a rather rude tone, dismissing every valid point raised against her behaviour.
The concerned passenger, allegedly the individual recording the incident, asked her to vacate the seat and wait nearby. However, she adamantly refused, resorting to disrespectful behaviour towards other passengers when urged to vacate the seat. Persisting in her refusal, she even asserted her purported affiliation with the Railways department and cited fatigue as a reason to remain seated. Many argued that she could have politely requested to sit instead of asserting unwarranted ownership over the seat.

Unmoved, she maintained her rudeness. “Main sunnewaali nahi hoon. Main baithi hoon, yahin baithungi. Khade raho, bolte raho. Mujhe koi farq nahi padhta. Kardo complain (I am not going to listen. I will sit here. You can keep standing there, keep on talking. I don’t care. Go ahead and complain).”
The video, shared on ‘X’ by @ShoneeKapoor, has since gone viral, amassing over 930K views on the platform.

Comments condemning her behaviour flooded in, with one person writing, “Some women feel too entitled these days for absolutely no reason !! This is not what women empowerment aims at!!” Another suggested, “We should normalise physically kicking out people who illegally travel regardless of gender. I think this undue respect for one particular gender has gone too far. The lack of consequences is what’s driving the entitlement.”
