The Democratic National Convention (DNC) wrapped up its four-day event on Thursday, August 22, at the Chicago’s United Center with Kamala Harris officially accepting her party’s nomination for the presidency. The finale had been eagerly anticipated, with speculations swirling around a surprise performance by Beyonce. Rumours, fueled by a report in TMZ and online chatter, suggested that the global superstar might make an appearance to support Harris, given that she has been using her song, Freedom, in her campaign. Other names, including Taylor Swift and former Republican figures George W. Bush and Mitt Romney, also surfaced as potential special guests, according to AFP.
Romney even weighed in on the speculation, taking to X to deny that he was the surprise guest. “Contrary to fake news posts, I am not the surprise guest at the DNC tonight. My guess is that it will be Beyonce or Taylor Swift. So disappointing, I know!” he wrote.

Despite the buzz, the much-anticipated Beyonce performance turned out to be a false lead. While some fans even tracked Swift’s private jet movements, the DNC organisers remained silent about who the surprise guest would be. As the evening unfolded, social media was abuzz with the speculation about Beyonce’s potential performance.
“Good Evening, ‘DNC surprise Beyonce’ was a 7-hour sociological study conducted by the Democratic Party. We are now complete with our study. Thank you for your attention,” Democratic strategist Joshua Rush quipped.

An individual pointed out, “It got people watching and that’s all that matters in the end. Kamala’s speech was one for this history books; bey and/or taytay would have just taken away from it in the end. I’m not mad in the least lol.”
