Pakistan’s Azam Khan has found himself at the centre of a storm of online trolling, all stemming from his challenges with fitness on the cricket field. Weighing in at over 125 kilograms, his hefty frame has unfortunately become a prime target for critics and spectators alike. Even Pakistani fans in New York, who were watching the Men in Green take on the USA, couldn’t resist the temptation to mock the keeper-batter, throwing insults his way from all directions.
The trolling reached new lows when some individuals displayed posters with cruel messages like “Azam Khan’t stop eating,” showcasing the relentless nature of the criticism he has been facing.

However, veteran cricketer Rashid Latif took a stand in defence of Azam Khan. He criticised the trolls for their harsh comments and body-shaming, emphasising that the 25-year-old doesn’t deserve such treatment.
“He is under immense pressure. He is being body-shamed, is being trolled,” Latif told the Indian Express. “Azam is an exceptional batsman in T20s. He is a clean hitter, plays spinners well, has worked on his game against the pacers. I feel bad for the kid, he is only 25. He doesn’t deserve to be trolled like this.”

Despite the support, Azam has been struggling to find form lately. In a recent match against the USA, he failed to make an impact, getting trapped LBW by Nosthush Kenjige for a mere 0 runs. As he made his way back to the pavilion, his animated expressions and a stare at a fan were captured in a viral picture. While the exact reason behind his reaction remains unclear, it provided more material for meme creators to continue their trolling and body-shaming of Azam, who happens to be the son of legendary Pakistan cricketer Moin Khan.
