Sumbul Touqeer’s television show Kavya – Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon premiered on Sony TV in September last year. In the show, Sumbul essays the titular role whereas Mishkat Varma’s portrayal of Adhiraj has been winning hearts. In a disheartening development, the show is now set to go off-air later this month on September 27. On Monday, the former Bigg Boss contestant posted a few pictures and videos on Instagram stories, announcing the wrap of the show.
In one of the photos, Sumbul Touqeer is seen clicking a selfie as the cast and crew of Kavya – Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon poses along with her. Along with the picture, she wrote, “And…it’s a wrap.” The subsequent pictures saw the actress posing with the director of the show and her lead co-star Mishkat Varma as he cutely pulled Sumbul’s cheeks.
Produced by Deeya Singh and Tony Singh under DJ’s Creative Unit, Kavya – Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon marked Sumbul Touqeer’s comeback on television after Bigg Boss 16, thereby creating a lot of buzz and anticipation among fans. The show, with its intriguing storyline and strong performances by its actors, won the hearts of the audiences. Besides, the chemistry between Sumbul and Mishkat Varma remained one of the focal points. For those unversed, the Sony TV series revolves around the story of an IAS officer as she navigates the complexities of her demanding career and her personal life.
Earlier this month, Sumbul Touqeer confirmed the news of her show’s wrap while speaking to ETimes. The actress shared, “The decision was quite sudden, and none of us saw it coming. But as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. I am filled with mixed emotions – sadness and disappointment, especially because I was deeply connected to my character.”
“Saying goodbye to a role I was so passionate about is never easy. After Bigg Boss 16, the character of Kavya became my new identity, and as artistes, we always strive to break and remake our identities through our characters. However, I understand that this is the nature of the industry – sometimes things don’t go as planned,” Sumbul added.
Apart from Sumbul Touqeer and Mishkat Varma, the show also features Mudit Nayar, Asmita Sharma, Akanksha Sharma and Hemant Bharati.
