Samsung is set to launch a new addition to its Galaxy A series, in the form of the new Galaxy A8+. The company had officially unveiled the new smartphones back in December, along with its step-down variant, the Galaxy A8. At the time, Samsung had set a January date for the availability of the smartphone. Staying true to this, the South Korean giant will now launch the Galaxy A8+ in India in an event in New Delhi on Wednesday. This has been confirmed by the recent tweets by the Samsung Mobile India Twitter handle.
Samsung Galaxy A8+ Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy A8+ features a 6-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio and a Galaxy S8-like Infinity Display, carrying 2220×1080 pixel resolution. The smartphone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is powered by an octa-core processor. Two of these eight cores are clocked at 2.2GHz while the rest six cores are clocked at 1.6GHz. The Galaxy A8+ will be available in two memory variants – a 4GB RAM option with 32GB internal storage and a 6GB RAM option with an expanded 64GB internal storage, both expandable up to 256GB.
As for optics, the Samsung Galaxy A8+ carries a 16-megapixel (f/1.7) camera at the back with Video Digital image stabilisation (VDis) technology. At the front, the device sports a dual camera setup, with a 16-megapixel fixed focus sensor and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor for Bokeh effects, both with f/1.9 aperture. In addition, the smartphone comes with a pre-installed Live Focus feature which allows users to adjust the Bokeh effect on images after the self-portraits are clicked.
Tha Galaxy A8+ is backed by a 3500 mAh battery that also supports fast-charging. Connectivity options on the Galaxy A8+ include 4G LTE, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. Galaxy A8+ comes with IP68-certified water and dust resistance in addition to Samsung Pay integration and Samsung Gear VR support. The 191 grams smartphone measures 159.9×75.7×8.3mm.

Going by its price in Vietnam (VND 13,490,000), the Samsung Galaxy A8+ is expected to cost around Rs 38,000 in India in case the company decides to bring the smartphone to Indian shores at a similar price point.
