Last month Xiaomi President Bin Lin teased that the company will be launching a smartphone with a 48-megapixel camera in January. Now the company is all set to launch its new smartphone Redmi X with a 48-megapixel camera this month. Sung has posted a picture of the upcoming Redmi phone on Twitter. In the picture, the phone appears in black colour with two cameras sitting on the rear panel of the device. The design of the smartphone is also similar to the teaser images shared by a couple of Xiaomi executives and it is more than confirmed that this is indeed the first 48-megapixel camera smartphone from Xiaomi.

The Redmi X from Xiaomi has been listed on JD.com with an asking price of CNY 9,999 (roughly Rs. 102,300) and while this pricing is not up to Xiaomi’s affordable standards, the Redmi X price on the online listing is said to be placeholder tag.

The Redmi smartphone bearing a 48 MP camera could be officially unveiled on the 10th of January 2019 in China. The teaser has a new Redmi logo, which will be unveiled along with the launch of the first Redmi smartphone with a 48 MP camera. According to some rumors, the Redmi phone will feature a 6.3-inch full HD+ display with a waterdrop style notch similar to the Mi Play and will be backed by a massive 4000mAh battery.
