Microsoft Windows PC Users In India Have A Major Security Alert From The Govt: What Needs To Be Done
Windows 10 and 11 PC users in India have to make note of this new warning and follow the steps suggested by the security agency.

Microsoft Windows PC users have got a new security warning from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) recently, where it has shared concerns regarding a vulnerability in multiple Windows versions. Windows 10 is the oldest version available in the market for PC users but the concerning part about the warning is that even the Windows 11 PCs are under the threat of the security issue.

The new alert has been marked with a critical severity rating, which means that any security issue can be only fixed if you update Windows on your PC to the latest available version.

Windows 10 Security Threat From Indian Govt: What It Says

The CERT-In bulletin explains the actual cause of this issue, “The vulnerabilities exist due to improper access restrictions within the proxy driver and insufficient implementation of the Mark of the Web (MotW) feature in Microsoft Windows. The SmartScreen security feature protection mechanism bypasses the MotW feature and allows malware to execute on a target system.”

The biggest takeaway from this alert is that hackers could use the issue to bypass your device’s security and infect the system with malware for nefarious activities. The bulletin also mentions that the vulnerabilities are being actively exploited in the wild, but the good news is that Microsoft is already aware about the security risk, and has released patches to fix and protect the Windows 10 and 11 PC users in India and other parts of the world. These are some of the Windows versions that have been affected by the security issue:

– Windows Server 2012

– Windows Server 2008

– Windows Server 2016

– Windows 10 version 1607

– Windows 10 for x64-based systems

– Windows 11 version 23H2 for x64-based systems

– Windows 10 version 1809 for ARM64-based systems

You can check for the full list of the Windows versions affected by going to the CERT-In bulletin site.
