New Delhi: In partnership with Google, Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer Asus unveiled its latest ZenWatch 2 Android-based smartwatch at its 2015 Computex event.
A successor to the original ZenWatch, it offers a more refined design and improved user interface. It features a metal watch crown and a magnetic charger that features effortless attachment and improved battery recharge times.
The ZenWatch 2 smartwatch is available in two sizes and three stainless-steel colors (Silver, Gunmetal, and Rose Gold), with 18 different strap material and color combinations. It comes with customized watch faces along with an app that lets wearers design their own smartwatch. Its smooth surface allows for responsive swiping gestures and a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 offers protection against scratches and damage.
It functions both as a personal activity and fitness manager and lets you view incoming calls, messages, notifications, and other important information, without having to check the phone. It further comes with an enhanced Remote Camera- a feature that turns the smartwatch’s display into a synced smartphone’s camera viewfinder remotely right on the wrist and lets you capture pictures from creative angles where the viewfinder would be difficult to see, like a concert. The improved camera now offers more range, the ability to switch between the phone's front and rear cameras, and zoom capability.
The new ZenWatch has an IP67 water-resistance rating, which makes it safe even in the shower or during exercise. It further includes a redesigned Wellness app that helps in better monitoring of physical activities.
Price and availability of the smartwatch has not been announced by the company.
