New Delhi: Asus has announced the release date of the ZenFone Max smartphone for the Indian market. The phone, which was unveiled last year in August, will be launched in India on January 4.

The phone will be available on Flipkart. Asus has a teaser page running on the e-commerce site which says, "Launching at 12PM on 4th Jan 2016."

The highlight of the phone is its 5000 mAh battery that also doubles as a power bank, meaning you can use the phone to charge other devices.

The Asus ZenFone Max has a 5.5-inch IPS display with the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 4 atop for scratch-resistance, strength and everyday durability. At the heart of ZenFone Max is a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with up to 2 GB of RAM.

The phone features a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera with a wide f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera also boasts laser auto-focus. This dual SIM smartphone supports SIM cards with 4G capability.

It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with Asus ZenUI. The ZenFone Max has an internal storage of 16 GB, and its memory can be further expanded using a microSD card of up to 64 GB.
