Suriya’s much-anticipated film, Kanguva, has become a topic of widespread discussion, blending science fiction with a historical narrative as Suriya takes on six distinct roles across various timelines. The actor’s transformative appearance, having shed weight and attained a ripped physique for the film, has been a significant point of conversation. A recent viral photo of Suriya showcases him appearing even slimmer than the character posters released earlier for Kanguva.

The filmmakers released an intriguing second-look poster featuring Suriya on the occasion of Pongal. This poster unveils a new look for the actor, representing the second of his six roles in the film. The modern appearance, where he rises like a phoenix from the ashes and engages with the audience, adds to the anticipation surrounding Kanguva. Regarded as one of Suriya’s most ambitious projects to date, Kanguva is creating significant buzz.

Director Siva shared insights into the film, stating, “I worked on this script four years ago. Both Suriya and Gnavavel Raja loved it. Suriya underwent a physically demanding transformation to fit the role, staying true to the character.” Bollywood actress Disha Patani is making her Tamil debut as the female lead, while Bobby Deol is set to play the antagonist.

The project, initially announced in April 2019 under the working title Suriya 39, has been in pre-production since January 2021. Suriya, having completed Soorarai Pottru, was initially scheduled to start production. However, with Siva taking on the directorial role for Annaatthe, the commencement of Kanguva production was postponed.
