Mahesh Babu-starrer Guntur Kaaram, which opened with a collection of Rs 41 crore on its first day, saw a dip in its weekend collection. The film, written and directed by Trivikram Srinivas, starred Sreeleela as the female lead. The film was released in theatres worldwide on Friday, January 12. Guntur Kaaram saw a 67 per cent dip in its day 2 collection and earned Rs 13.55 crore at the domestic box office. On Sunday, the numbers rose to Rs 14.05 crore.
Domestically, the movie is believed to have collected around Rs 85.88 crore, so far.
The makers of Guntur Kaaram have officially announced through their social media handles that the movie has earned Rs 164 crore worldwide at the box office. They have called it a super Sankarnthi Blockbuster. It is said that 56 per cent of the budget has been recovered.
Guntur Kaaram entered the theatres with a break-even target of Rs 133 crore. With the movie currently standing at Rs 85.88 crore in five days, it still has to receive a share in the range of Rs 58 crore. In the background of the release of this movie, the Telangana government has altered its rules regarding the ticket rates of this movie. As per the request of the Guntur Kaaram team, the ticket rates for the single screens will be Rs 240 and Rs 395 for the Telangana multiplexes. The film is getting mixed reviews.

After Guntur Kaaram, Mahesh Babu is reportedly doing a big movie with director SS Rajamouli which is tentatively titled SSMB29. After RRR, this will be Rajamouli’s next project. As per media reports, the Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is being considered as the lead heroine of the movie. Rajamouli has already announced that the story will be an adventure thriller set in the backdrop of Africa. The movie will be made on a huge scale with the highest technical standards. The film is expected to be a pan-India movie.
