Prashanth Varma’s HanuMan is the latest pan-India phenomenon at the box office. The film that starred actors like Teja Sajja, Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Vinay Rai in pivotal roles managed to win over the audience and if reports were to be believed, a sequel has been confirmed as well. Amid this, the film-maker recently gave an interview where he claimed that he reached out to the big superstars of the Telugu industry like Jr NTR and Allu Arjun but nothing could come out of it.
Speaking with Siddharth Kanan, Prashanth Varma explained, “I’m not against working with stars. Usually with stars, it takes time. I spent a lot of time waiting for a couple of stars. I wasted a lot of my time. So after that, I’ve decided, okay, let’s just have a deadline. So after this deadline, even if Tom Cruise comes to me, I should just go ahead with whoever I have. I didn’t come into the industry to work with stars.”
He further shared how he reached out to Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun and others but due to their busy schedules, they couldn’t commit to his project, “Many don’t say ‘no’ directly, but the message is usually clear. Initially, I was confused when someone praised my story then disappeared. Now, I understand the pressures they face,” he stated.
Prashanth Varma also commented on the trajectory that he is going to take after HanuMan. He said, “I already had a plan. With respect to such a huge success, we already had a plan about what to do immediately after HanuMan. So, the problem is, I’ll have to avoid so many people now. I’ll have to excuse myself from so many people so that I can continue with the plan that we have already.”
As for Hanu Man, the film has surpassed the Rs. 200 crore mark in terms of worldwide collections, establishing its dominance amidst tough competition. Hanu Man faced strong competition from Dhanush’s Captain Miller and Vijay Sethupathi’s Merry Christmas at the box office. Despite the challenges, Hanu Man outshone the others. The film features Teja Sajja in the title role, alongside Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Raj Deepak Shetty and Vinay Rai.
