Actor Chiyaan Vikram had big releases, Ponniyin Selvan 2 and Cobra, last year. While Ponniyin Selvan 2 was a success, Cobra failed to live up to expectations. Now all eyes are on Vikram once again as he is set to play a tribesman fighting the British for his land in the historical adventure action film, Thangalaan. Vikram’s drastic physical transformation for the film is already the talk of the town. While we discuss these projects, one needs to be reminded of another upcoming film of Vikram that is fading from public memory due to its prolonged production period. The film we are talking about is Dhruva Natchathiram, which has been in production since 2017. It is widely known that the delay in the action thriller, directed by Gautam Menon, was caused by ongoing legal and financial problems. The movie’s release date was repeatedly pushed back. According to the most recent sources, Dhruva Natchathiram may have finally obtained a release date.
Tamil film industry circles say that the film’s troubles are now being resolved. The movie is scheduled to be released by the makers on either February 16 or 23. All we can hope for is that this time there won’t be any issues with the movie’s release. The finished movie was originally scheduled to make its debut on November 24, 2023, but was once again delayed. There were legal and financial problems during the entire spy thriller’s production. The cases kept Gautham Menon busy again and again, so he had to reschedule Dhruva Natchathiram from November.
Vijay Raghavendra, a shareholder in All In Pictures, has filed a petition in the Madras High Court, seeking an interim ban on the release of this film.
It contained a contract that Gautham Vasudev Menon signed with his firm to direct Simbu in the lead role in the movie Superstar. In 2018, a Rs 2 crore 40 lakh advance payment was made. As per the agreement, when the film’s production was not finished, Gautham Vasudev had to return the advance money. Vijay Raghavendra had demanded in the petition that Dhruva Natchathiram not be allowed to release the movie without paying back the money Gautham had collected from him.
The movie can be released if the money is refunded, according to an order issued by the High Court, which heard the matter on November 22 of last year. Due to Gautham Vasudev Menon not returning the money, Dhruva Natchathiram could not be released. Judge C Saravanan heard the matter again on Thursday. At that point, Gautham Menon’s attorney Revathi Manikandan asked for a three-week adjournment of the lawsuit since he intended to release the movie in February. The judge then gave an order to postpone the case’s hearing for three weeks.
