It was earlier reported that a woman who kissed Rahul Gandhi during a meeting in Jorhat had died of burn injuries after fighting with her husband.
Guwahati: The Assam Police has clarified that the woman who died in Assam of burn injuries is not the one who kissed Rahul Gandhi at an event on February 26.
It was earlier reported that the woman who kissed the Congress Vice President had died of severe burn injuries after reportedly fighting with her husband.
However, the police denied the reports.
Amanjeet Kaur, SP Jorhat, said that the woman was a Congress ward member and was not even present during the meeting in Jorhat. She said the name of the victim was not there on the list of the people present during the meeting.
"The matter is being investigated," she said.
