A popular dialogue from Allu Arjun-starrer blockbuster ‘Pushpa’, a night drive on Mumbai’s newly inaugurated Atal Setu and several motivational quotes. Mauris Noronha’s Instagram profile looks like an ordinary one.
Noronha, who identifies himself as a philanthropist and social worker, is currently under the spotlight after the chilling murder of former Shiv Sena-UBT corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar during a Facebook Live on Thursday night. The man who faced a battery of cases, killed himself after the murder of Shiv Sena leader Abhishek Ghosalkar, an incident that has sent shock waves across Maharashtra.
In his last Instagram post, Noronha could be seen smiling at the camera. In the background, a popular dialogue from Pushpa movie could be heard, “Pushpa name sunke flower samjhe kya, fire hai mein.” The text accompanying the post read: “YOU CAN’T DEFEAT A MAN who doesn’t care about pain, loss, disrespect, heartbreak & rejection.”
Other posts on his Instagram profile feature a drive through the Atal Setu and a motivational quote that said, “Life will always be hardest when u’re crossing over to a new level. Don’t get discouraged.”
Mumbai Police sources said that there have been cases of cheating, attempt to murder, threat and rape against Moris in the past. He was also arrested in connection with these allegations.
Noronha’s victim, Abhishek Ghosalkar, is the son of Shiv Sena-UB leader Vinod Ghosalkar. He was shot thrice at point blank, a crime that was captured on camera. The incident took place at Noronha’s office in Mumbai’s IC Colony.
Sources at Mumbai Police said that the weapon used in the firing is suspected to be illegal.
Mauris and Abhishek Ghosalkar had a political feud since the last three years. The accused had emerged as a local hero for doing social work during Covid and wanted to contest elections, however, Ghosalkar was against him contesting polls as his wife was the corporator from the constituency recently. According to reports, Mauris had a cheating case against him for which he spent 90 days in jail and he felt that it was Ghosalkar behind his arrests.
The Facebook live was apparently arranged to resolve their ‘personal enmity’ and clarify that they had come together, police said.
According to a Hindustan Times report, Mauris was trying to enter the Uddhav Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena. Both Noronha and Ghosalkar apparently wanted to contest from Ward No 1.
On Thursday, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut claimed that Mauris Noronha had met Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at his official residence four days ago.
In a post on X, Raut tweeted a photograph, purportedly showing Noronha with chief minister Shinde. The Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha member also claimed that Shinde had invited Noronha to join his party.
