'What's Wrong if RSS Wants to Defend Our Borders': Nitish Kumar Defends Mohan Bhagwat
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's comments came after a row erupted over Bhagwat's statement in Muzaffarpur on Sunday where he had said that while it takes six-seven months for army to train and prepare for battle, RSS can do that within three days.

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday staunchly defended RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's comparison of Swayamsevaks with the Army, saying there was nothing wrong if a civil organisation talks about defending the nation's borders.

Addressing the press after weekly Lok Samvad in Patna, Nitish, while answering a question on RSS chief's comments, said, "What is wrong in it. As per my information he has talked about readiness of his organisation for the defending country's border. It should be welcomed if any civil organisation does that. I don't think there is any harm in that."

His comments came after a row erupted over Bhagwat's statement in Muzaffarpur on Sunday where he had said that while it takes six-seven months for army to train and prepare for battle, RSS can do that within three days.

After the uproar, RSS released a statement, saying that the statement had been misconstrued and he never intended to compare RSS workers with the Army.

The RSS chief is on ten days visit to Bihar to oversee organisational expansion. He is likely to informally interact with BJP leaders in Patna on Tuesday and Wednesday.

However, there is no information on whether any meeting has been planned between Nitish and Bhagwat as the former has been avoiding a meeting even after joining hands with BJP to form the government in the state. After Nitish joined NDA, this is Bhagwat's third visit to the state.
