Agartala: Frightened by the economic growth of China, the US is planning to deploy over half of its naval fleet in the Indian Ocean and South China Sea, CPI(M) Politburo member Sitaram Yechury said on Saturday.
"America has become frightened by the economic growth of China and decided to deploy 60 per cent of its naval fleet in the Indian Ocean and South China Sea to deal with China," Yechury told a function to commemorate the birth centenary of CPI-M's first Secretary, P Sundaraiya.
"The US has also been trying to grab oil and natural gas resources of the region, besides of West Asia and Arab countries," he said.
