New Delhi: The CBI has told the Supreme Court that it will consider a representation by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati for closure of proceedings against her in the disproportionate assets case, in the wake of the favourable orders passed by the Income Tax authorities.
This actually has a political spin too as Congress is going soft on BSP ahead of facing a cut motion in the Parliament. Just last week, CBI had said it had incriminating evidence showing Mayawati and her relatives had amassed huge assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
They even wanted to file a chargesheet. But now the central investigating agency says it is ready to consider her appeal for closure not only in the assets case but in the Noida Park case too.
