The rise of the BJP as a national force since 1984

New Delhi: Like the Congress the BJP has also seen ups and downs since its birth in the 1980. After the collapse of the Janata Party led government of Morarjee Desai, the Jana Sangh became Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The BJP was founded in December 1980.
