New Delhi: Minutes after Arvind Kejriwal announced on Monday that the Aam Aadmi Party will form the government in Delhi, former chief minister Sheila Dikhsit congratulated him while making it clear that the Congress has not offered it an unconditional support. "We had said Congress will give outside support. My good wishes are with Arvind. AAP must fulfill the promises made to public of Delhi," Sheila said.
"We have supported AAP only for their policies for the public. We also want to give relief to the public of Delhi," she added.
Terming AAP policies to be as unexemplary, she said it is impossible to fulfil the tall promises. "I have already said it is impossible to fulfil the tall promises made to the public," she said.
While speculations are high that Congress may take its support back once the 2014 Lok Sabha elections are over, Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely said that his party doesn't want an election in Delhi again. "We didn't want Delhiites to be burdened with another election," he said.
AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced that the party has decided to form the government in ledaer. AAP leader Manish Sisodia said that out of 280 jan sabhas conducted by the party, in 257 sabhas, people wanted the party to form the government in Delhi.
AAP had contested Delhi polls on anti-Congress, anti-BJP plank. Therefore, the decision to form government with Congress support also exposes it to attack from the BJP, the single-largest party which is sitting out in the opposition.
