Days after Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) announced candidates for all the five seats in Bihar, at least 22 leaders from the primary membership of LJP. One of the leaders accused chief Chirag Paswan of “nepotism”.
Party’s organisational secretary Ravindra Singh, who wanted to contest elections from Vaishali, made the charge. The leaders also accused Chirag Paswan and his close confidantes of “virtually selling” tickets for the Lok Sabha elections.
Besides Ravindra Singh, former state minister and national vice-president Renu Kushwaha, former MLA and national general secretary Satish Kumar and vice-president Sanjay Singh along with dozens of their supporters sent their resignation to state president Raju Tiwary.
The shocker for Paswan just as Prime Minister Narendra Modi gears up to trailblaze the NDA’s Lok Sabha poll campaign in Bihar. The LJP is an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
This will be PM Modi’s first campaign in the state since the announcement of the elections. Interestingly, the rally will be held in Jamui, where Chirag Paswan has handed over the mantle to brother-in-law Arun Bharti after having represented Jamui, a reserved seat, two times on the trot.
“It is a matter of pride for Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and the people of Jamui that the prime minister has agreed to launch his campaign in Bihar from the constituency. We are committed to helping him achieve the target of 400 plus seats for NDA, including all the 40 in Bihar,” Paswan said on Wednesday.
