Former Union home secretary and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader RK Singh took a dig at former home minister P Chidambaram over the latter's statement on the execution of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
In an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN, Singh reacted to the recent comments by Chidambaram saying, "I guess Chidambaram is writing a book."
"Chidambaram has been a home minister, it is sad that he has made such a statement," he added.
Speaking to CNN-IBN, Chidambaram had said that he would have done things differently in the Afzal Guru case, had he been the home minister at that time. "I would have done things differently if I was home minister then, but since I was a part of the government it's not right to distance myself from it," he had said.
The former home secretary asserted that the Afzal Guru case was handled very well by the previous UPA government, adding, "If Chidambaram had any doubt he should have written in the file."
The BJP leader also disapproved of the February 9 event in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), which has blown into a major controversy. "What is happening in this country? Captains and soldiers are being killed and people have sympathy for terrorists."
He also talked about the Ishrat Jahan case. According to Singh, the affidavit in the case was changed. Referring to the two affidavits filed in the case, he said that there was no need to file a second affidavit.
