Dombivali (Maharashtra: MNS leader Raj Thackeray, whose arrest has sparked violent protests, on Tuesday appealed to his supporters to maintain peace and co-operate with the police.
Raj made the appeal through his lawyers who met him at a police station in Thane district on Tuesday evening.
All efforts were being made to produce him before a magistrate's court but it seemed difficult and he was likely to be produced on Wednesday, his lawyers told a large group of MNS supporters, who gathered outside the police station.
The MNS leader had been brought to the Manpada police station here in connection with a case registered against him and his party workers for assaulting candidates appearing for railway recruitment exam on October 19.
Raj, arrested from Ratnagiri in Konkan region, has four cases against him for the Sunday's violence.
