Patna: Setting the tone for assembly elections in Bihar, a poster war has ensued in the state. Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Muzaffarpur where he kickstarts the election campaign for the National Democratic Alliance, Janata Dal United (JDU) supporters pasted posters of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over posters of the PM.
The posters are being seen as an open challenge for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar ahead of the crucial election battle in the state.
Not paying much heed to the poster war, BJP leader Rameshwar Chaurasia said, "BJP will form the government in Bihar. "PM Modi is founding stone for various projects, so this is a moment of pride for the people of Bihar."
Hitting out at the PM, JDU leader Sanjay Singh said "He has done fraud with the 11 crore people in Lok Sabha election. He said that he will bring back black money, employment, reduce inflation but did nothing. If the Bihar CM goes to receive the PM then its basic protocol, those who say that it is arrogant, I want to say that arrogance is what BJP leaders have not us."
Meanwhile, Nitish took to twitter to share the slogan coined by the party on Modi's arrival in Bihar. "Jhanse mein na aaye, Nitish ko jitaye (Do not be influenced by anyone, vote for Nitish)," the slogan said. Accusing him of not fulfilling the promises, he also asked several questions to the PM.
He questioned the PM on the retrieval of blackmoney, farmers' issues and the promises he had made to the state during Lok Sabha polls. "I am raising 7 critical issues-2 specific to Bihar and 5 that in my view people across India want to hear from the Prime Minister," Kumar said in a tweet.
