Chennai: The AIADMK-led opposition on Wednesday staged a walk out from the Tamil Nadu Assembly after making a vain bid to raise the issue of alleged malpractices indulged in by the ruling DMK in the May 13 Lok Sabha polls.
The members shouted slogans denouncing the government. Soon after Speaker R Avudiappan made obituary statements in respect of 11 former members, the AIADMK members sought to raise the issue of alleged malpractices in the elections.
As the Speaker refused permission to do so and expunged all the remarks made by them, party whip K A Sengottaiyan and Deputy Leader of the Opposition, O Pannerlselvam led the members out of the House.
As the AIADMK members made an exit, its coalition partners PMK, MDMK, the two Left parties, CPI and the CPI(M) also followed suit after being denied the permission to raise the issue.
