Mulayam's remarks on Maya surprises Advani
Advani says it's unconstitutional to dismiss elected state government.

Bhopal: Expressing surprise at Mulayam Singh Yadav's comment that he would support anybody who dismisses Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani on Friday said that Constitution does not allow Centre to take such a step.

"What can I say? I am surprised that such a public statement has come (from Yadav). Constitution does not give right to any Central government to dismiss a democratically elected state government. It has a certain dignity," Advani said in Bhopal.

The BJP's prime ministerial candidate also expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was ahead of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) as per the trends available till date.

"I can say that as of now, the BJP will emerge as the single largest party and would be much ahead of Congress," he said.

Advani, who had a brief stoppage in Bhopal while on his way to Kolkata from Tamil Nadu, said, "Our alliance too will be ahead of UPA. Thanks to the hard work of our party workers, chief ministers and leaders, the situation today is very much in our favour, which even I did not anticipate."

He said that in 2004, the NDA had lost due to overconfidence, however this time the party has ensured that there is no such feeling.

When asked to comment on efforts by Congress to woo Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Advani said, "Nitishji himself has clarified on this. All speculation on this issue are baseless and endless. There is no need to speculate on all this."
