After a jibe about Donkeys by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hit back at the young leader and said that he doesn't mind working like a donkey.

"A donkey is very hardworking and loyal to his owner,” the Prime Minister said while addressing an election rally in Bahraich.

"A donkey works even if hungry or tired and I don’t mind working like one for over 100 crore Indians," Modi added.

Earlier in the week Akhilesh Yadav lashed out at PM Modi and BJP president Amit Shah after he appealed to film star Amitabh Bachchan not to campaign for the donkeys of Gujarat.

The Prime Minister, referring to a tainted UP minister who has been booked in a rape case said, “Those who go about chanting Gayatri Prajapati mantra have no right to come to power.” He also added that Akhilesh should have known that when the Congress was in power it came out with postal stamps on the wild asses of Gujarat.

"I can understand if Akhilesh attacks me or the Bharatiya Janta Party, but he has attacked donkeys even though they are thousand of kilometres away,” PM Modi said.

Narendra Modi said that Akhilesh was afraid of the donkeys of Gujarat. “Congress will sink and also take you (SP) along,” the Prime Minister said.
