Chennai: A person attempted suicide near Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's residence in Chennai on Monday. The person identified as Mohan belongs to Trichy and is an AIADMK worker.
He tried to self immolate but was stopped by the police and taken away. The reason for his attempted suicide is not yet known but he had some financial dealings with another AIADMK worker.
Tamil Nadu is in the midst of election campaign to elect a new Assembly. The voting for the 234-member Assembly will be on May 16 and results will be declared three days later. Although 234 MLAs are elected in Tamil Nadu but there is a seat for the the Anglo-Indian community taking the total numbers of members to 235.
