Bangalore: The BJP won three seats in the bypoll to eight Assembly segments in Karnataka and is leading in three segments.
BJP ministers Umesh Katti won from Hukkeri, Balachandra Jarkiholi from Arabhavi and Shivanagouda Naik from Devadurga.
Katti won by over 67,000 votes, Jarkiholi by 30,000 votes and Naik by 16,000 votes.
BJP candidates Anand Asnotikar (Karwar), Narasimhaswamy (Doddaballapura) and M D Lakshminarayana (Turuvekere) were leading in advanced rounds of counting.
The JDS was ahead in two constituencies - Madhugiri, where Anita Kumaraswamy, wife of former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, is leading by a slender margin, while in Maddur, Kalpana, widow of M S Siddaraju, whose death necessitated the bypoll, had established a lead of around 7,000 votes.
The Congress is trailing in five constituencies.
