New Delhi: A day after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced Narendra Modi's candidature from Varanasi, clamour is growing in AAP for a Modi-Kejriwal face-off.
Party leader V Balakrishnan has said that AAP's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal will contest against Modi in Varanasi. "Arvind Kejriwal will announce his decision to contest against Modi in his Bangalore rally on Sunday," he said.
The AAP is currently holding a party meet in the capital to discuss poll strategy. Party's political affairs committee is also likely to meet in the next couple of days.
Balakrishnan also spoke about the party's fund raising dinner in Bangalore on Saturday and termed it to be a great success. "250 people attended and we collected around Rs 50 lakhs. People from various walks of life, engineers, doctors etc, attended the event.
Balakrishnan said that Kejriwal answered tough questions at the event. "Good thing about Arvind is that he never runs away from questions. He answered a lot of tough questions at the fund raiser. We got a good response at road shows in Bangalore.
Earlier in the day, Kejriwal tweeted about the possibility of him taking on Modi. He is likely to announce his decision on Sunday at his rally in Bangalore.
