New Delhi: The CNN-News18-Gramener projection shows an Aam Aadmi Party victory with 54 seats in the state out of 117, just five short of the required majority to form the government.

The projection puts a resurgent Congress party on the second spot with 53, and a poor showing by the SAD-BJP combine with just 10 seats.

Here are other Exit Poll results:

India TV-C-Voter has predicted an AAP government in Punjab, giving the debutant party 59-67 seats in the 117-seat Assembly. It says the Congress will get between 41-49 seats. Like all others, India TV-C-Voter too has predicted a drubbing for the ruling Akali Dal with just five to 13 seats.

NewsX-MRC Exit Poll for Punjab puts Aam Aadmi Party and Congress neck-and-neck with 55 seats each, followed by the ruling BJP- Akali Dal with just seven seats.

India Today-Axis Exit Poll also predicts Congress victory in Punjab with 62 seats in the 117-seat Assembly. AAP, making its debut in the state, is predicted to get 42 seats. The BJP-Akali Dali is predicted to get just between four and seven seats.

Here’s how the CNN-News18-Gramener projection has worked out the prediction for the five states:

Step 1: Find middle value of the projected range

Step 2: Find proportion of difference with actual seats won

Step 3: Adjust the proportions that are greater than one

Step 4: Calculate weightage of each agency on basis of their past accuracy

Step 5: Apply respective weightages to present data for final projection
