New Delhi: Delhi BJP on Friday accused Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit of misleading the rural people on the issue of extension of Lal Dora areas and repealing of Section 81 of the Delhi Land Reforms Act. Congress had in its election manifestos of 2003 and 2008 had made these announcements, but till date nothing has been done, Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel told reporters.
Various quarters have been demanding amendment to the Delhi Land Reforms Act that was implemented in 1954. Section 81 of the Act pertains to land usage. "For last 14 years, the Congress government has been repeating these announcements and this time also the CM plans to do the same. Since the elections are just a few months ahead, she is once again making such misleading announcements. It seems she has become a Chief Minister, who just makes announcements and does nothing for the people," Goel said.
The government has not even provided basic facilities to villages and now even if they would begin the work then it would result in disaster like Commonwealth Games, he said. The Delhi BJP chief also accused Dikshit of not fulfilling her promises like increasing compensation of those people whose land was acquired by government agencies and providing government jobs to the affected families. "The intention of Congress' government is visible in case of regularisation of unauthorised colonies, revocation of building by-laws from rural areas which had prevented the villagers to construct their houses, as it prohibits such constructions," he said.
BJP will hold 'Pardafash rally' in Palam village to highlight the government's failure, he said. Goel said BJP has first raised the issues of villag es and would bring the real picture among the people of these villages. He also said BJP-led municipal corporations have abolished payment of house tax for villages, but the government has failed to act on it.
