New Delhi: Congress party on Monday nominated its leaders for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. The nominees included senior leaders like party general secretary Digvijaya Singh and Madhusudan Mistry among others.
Election to the Upper House is slated to take place on February 7.
Congress has re-nominated three of its Rajya Sabha members, namely, K V P Ramachandra Rao, M A Khan and T Subbarami Reddy. All these MPs are from Andhra Pradesh.
Former Union minister Murli Deora and ex-Maharashtra minister Hussain Dalwai also filed their nominations on Monday. Both the eaders have been re-nominated for third and second term respectively.
Sanjay Singh who is a Congress MP from Sultanpur has been nominated by the party from Assam.
Tuesday is the last day for filing of nominations. So far, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, eminent lawyer Majid Memon (both NCP), Rajkumar Dhoot (Shiv Sena) and Sanjay Kakade (Independent) have filed their nomination papers.
