Developing: Rahul may say no to Cabinet berth
Rahul was likely to be offered HRD Ministry. Montek for FM?

New Delhi: While victory celebrations are still on in the UPA camp, decisions about forming the next government will take centrestage now.

Sources say Rahul Gandhi is likely to say no to any cabinet berth offered. The Congress crown prince was seen as a likely candidate for the HRD or Rural Development ministries.

In fact, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as well as the party core group lauded Rahul Gandhi for the Congress' victory.

On Sunday, the Congress Working Committee passed a resolution commending Rahul’s energy, exuberance and enthusiasm in poll campaign saying it sent a "new message of hope to the people".

"Rahul Gandhi was, in many respects, the lead campaigner and addressed over hundred rallies in a space of around 22 days. His energy, exuberance and enthusiasm sent a new message of hope to the people of the country, especially youth," the unanimously-passed resolution at the CWC meeting said.

Referring to the role of Gandhi in reviving the party in Uttar Pradesh, the resolution said "he has embarked on a historic task of party-building from the grassroots and is also showing the way to a whole new politics itself".
