CBI Nandigram probe not to be hindered
The Congress has urged Manmohan Singh to assure there be no interference in the CBI’s probe into the Nandigram clash.

New Delhi: The Congress on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to assure that there was no “undue interference” in the CBI’s inquiry into the police firing at Nandigram.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, the West Bengal Pradesh Congress and the party's legislature wing in the assembly expressed fear that there might be some "undue interference" in the CBI's investigation, particularly after the arrest of 10 CPI (M) cadres with arms in Nandigram.

PCC General Secretary and CLP Chief Whip Manas Bhuniya said the Prime Minister was requested to ensure that CBI could proceed with investigation smoothly at Nandigram "without any interference from any quarter particularly the CPI (M).”

Bhuniya said that the investigation should expose the truth and pinpoint the guilty.

A copy of the letter was sent to AICC President Sonia Gandhi.
