Can't debate coal blocks, act now: BJP to Govt
The BJP said that it had always supported debate on every issue, including the CWG and the 2G scams.

New Delhi: Insisting that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh must resign first for any discussions on coal blocks allocations to take place in Parliament, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad on Sunday said that it was Congress tactic to attack those who attacked its members.

The BJP leader said that while the party had always supported debate on every issue, including the Commonwealth Games scam and the 2G scam, time had come to take action.

"Obviously, Parliament is the place for debate. But we have debated for long. In the Commonwealth scam, the PM assured he will take action on recommendations of the Shunglu Committee. But he didn't even let a chargesheet be filed against Suresh Kalmadi. In the 2G scam, had we not taken a tough stance, Raja would have never gone to jail," he said at a press conference.

"Will there be one rule for ministers.. for allies like DMK and another rule for the PM and other Congress ministers?" he asked.

"Our demand for the PM's resignation stands, whether it is inside Parliament or outside it," he said.
