Boss is Always Right, Says Navjot Singh Sidhu. But Won't Give up TV Job

New Delhi: The issue plaguing Punjab Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu is the question over whether his appearance in TV shows is legal. Responding to queries about the “office of profit”, Sidhu took a dig at Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and said “the boss is always right”. He added, however, that what he does after office-hours is “nobody’s business”.

When asked about whether Sidhu would be allowed to appear on television, the CM said he would “seek legal opinion” on the matter.

Speaking to the media outside his office on Tuesday, Sidhu said, “On what Captain Amarinder Singh has said, all I have to say is that the boss is always right. However, office of profit only concerns government positions. Kirron Kher (BJP leader) goes and shoots programs for 11 months. I, on the other hand, have stopped my work with the IPL and I have given up 70-80% of the TV shows I did. From 9 am to 6 pm, I will carry out my duties as a government servant. As long as I am in office by 9 am, it should be nobody’s business what I do after 6 pm. I think nobody should have any interest in this. What I do is my profession, my passion, my interest and my work.”Also Read: Punjab CM to Seek Legal Opinion on Navjot Sidhu's Act in Kapil Sharma Show

He, however, added a conciliatory note by praising the Captain. “See, Congress has won a historic mandate in Punjab. Congress had never won more than 67 seats in Punjab but this time, we won 77. Akali Dal had never gone below 24 seats but they went even lower this time. Everyone should remember that we have created history this time.”
