After the ‘Shakti’ remark row, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi once again found himself amid a raging political controversy because of a photo posing casually with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and Union Minister Piyush Goyal.
Gandhi’s mother and veteran Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and brother-in-law Robert Vadra were also a part of the group picture, which was clicked after Sonia Gandhi took oath as a Rajya Sabha member at the Parliament.
In the photo, Rahul Gandhi can be seen standing in a loose posture with one of his hands on Vice President Dhankar’s chair.
Scrutinizing the politicians’ actions and appearances in the picture, BJP Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla launched a veiled attack on the former Congress chief for showing disrespect and lack of courtesy towards the vice president.
The BJP leader also slammed Gandhi for exhibiting his “arrogance and sense of entitlement” and called him “disrespect and arrogance ki dukaan.”
Shameful! The sense of arrogance & entitlement of this person is unparalleled Tearing ordinance of PM Manmohan Singh a decade ago to mocking Jagdeep Dhankar to showing no basic courtesy to VP to abusing Shakti- this is DISRESPECT & ARROGANCE KI DUKAAN pic.twitter.com/LUc3aosmDF

“Shameful! The sense of arrogance & entitlement of this person is unparalleled Tearing the ordinance of PM Manmohan Singh a decade ago to mocking Jagdeep Dhankar showing no basic courtesy to the VP to abusing Shakti- this is DISRESPECT & ARROGANCE KI DUKAAN,” Poonawalla wrote on X alongside the picture.
Regarding Manhoman Singh’s ordinance, Rahul Gandhi in 2013, when he became the Congress President, announced his emergence as the new Congress boss and rejected an ordinance introduced by his party’s senior leader and then PM Manmohan Singh as ‘Complete Nonsense.’
By thrashing the ordinance which was aimed to save convicted legislators from disqualification, Singh embarrassed PM Manmohan Singh hours before he met with Barack Obama in Washington DC and publicly rebuked the party’s old guard.
Rahul Gandhi’s Shakti Row
Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Shakti’ remark on the closing ceremony of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, triggered a massive political controversy with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attacking him as ‘anti-Hindu’ and ‘misogynist.’
Addressing the INDIA rally, Rahul had raised the bloc’s concerns regarding EVMs and said, “There is a word ‘Shakti’ in Hinduism. We are fighting against a shakti too. The question is, what is that Shakti and what does it mean for us?” He had gone on to say that all institutions in the country, from EVMs to the Enforcement Directorate, were under the might of the Modi government.”
