New Delhi: Ahead of the House proceedings on Tuesday, BJP MPs from Uttar Pradesh raised the issue of construction of Ram Temple in the parliamentary party meet.
The MPs sought to know from the BJP leadership what the government intends to do on the long-pending issue which has been in the party's agenda and manifesto for more than three decades now.
MPs from eastern UP, Harinarayan Rajbhar (Ghosi) and Ravinder Kushwaha (Salempur) raised the issue.
In the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Mumbai, Home minister Rajnath Singh responded to the queries of the BJP lawmakers and asked them to exercise caution.
Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) and its affiliates have been insisting on an early settlement of the issue which is pending before the Supreme Court now.
In a major show of strength ahead of the winter session of Parliament, VHP organised a massive rally at Delhi’s Ram Lila Maidan to demand an ordinance for the acquisition of the disputed land and early construction of the temple.
Some BJP allies in government however hold different. Ram Vilas Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party and Janata Dal (United) have opposed any ordinance route to settle the Ayodhya title suit.
On the other hand, BJP’s oldest ally, Shiv Sena has been insisting on an early settlement and construction of the dispute. Party chief Uddhav Thackray visited Ayodhya last month to raise the pitch to the discomfiture of both the Sangh and the BJP.
