Vadodara: The selection of Satyajitsinh Duleepsinh Gaekwad as Congress nominee for the Baroda Lok Sabha seat, will make it very easy for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to retain the seat, said Shabdashran Brambhatt, spokesman of BJP for central Gujarat and former city mayor.
Brambhatt said that BJP candidate Jayaben Thakkar has been winning this seat by defeating Gaekwad for the last three terms.
Though BJP has yet to declare its nominee for Baroda parliamentary seat, its workers became very happy for making its task of winning this seat very smooth, Brambhatt said.
Meanwhile, reacting to the Congress' decision over his nomination for Baroda seat, Gaekwad said, "I am confident of winning this seat as last time he had lost to BJP nominee Thakkar by about narrow margin of 6,000 votes."
Gaekwad said it was the demand of the party workers for allocation of the party ticket to him for contesting from Baroda.
He said he had been working for strengthening the base of the Congress for the last five years.
