Skoda unveiled its flagship SUV, the Kodiaq, shortly after Volkswagen introduced the new Tiguan, which shares the same MQB-Evo platform. Despite this shared base, the Kodiaq stands out with a unique design that reflects Skoda’s fresh design approach. It comes with increased space, a choice of 10 or 13-inch infotainment screens, and a host of other appealing features.
Skoda Kodiaq SUV: Exterior
The updated Skoda Kodiaq brings a refreshed design to the current generation. At the front, it maintains the signature butterfly grille, now flanked by sharp split LED headlights equipped with Skoda’s latest matrix LED technology. These headlights have 50 percent more light elements, resulting in a nearly 15 percent brightness increase. The top Sportline trim includes these headlights as standard, along with a horizontal light bar over the grille. The lower bumper features black cladding.
On the side, there are new alloy wheel options ranging from 17 to 20 inches, and the window line gently rises after the C pillar. At the back, like many modern cars, it sports a red light bar. The tail lamps are refreshed, and a sporty roof spoiler and creases in the tailgate enhance its appearance. The lower bumper gets a muscular look with silver accents. These updates, while not groundbreaking, provide a stylish evolution of the Skoda Kodiaq’s design.
Skoda Kodiaq SUV: Interior
Inside the new Kodiaq, you’ll find a 10-inch digital information display and an optional head-up display. The highlight is a free-standing touchscreen, available in either 10 or 13 inches, which controls most vehicle functions. However, what’s really interesting are the three new smart dials in front of the centre console.
The outer two knobs each have a 32mm colour display and control climate settings for the driver and passenger. The middle one can be set to manage infotainment volume, driving modes, map zoom, or air conditioning. You can customize the interior with one of four design packages: Loft, Lounge, and two Ecosuite options focused on sustainability, all aimed at reducing the Kodiaq’s environmental impact.
Skoda Kodiaq SUV: Powertrains
The new Kodiaq plug-in hybrid combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor to produce 204 bhp. It boasts an impressive electric-only range of over 100km from its 25.7kWh under-boot battery and can charge up to 50kW at public charging stations. There are also traditional petrol and diesel options with power outputs ranging from 150 bhp to 204 bhp, each mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and the most powerful versions come with four-wheel drive.
The base 1.5-litre petrol engine, driving the front wheels, has 48V mild-hybrid technology and cylinder deactivation for better fuel efficiency. However, official MPG and emissions data are not yet disclosed.
