'Not Request me For Tickets': Virat Kohli Asks 'Friends' to Enjoy World Cup from Home
Virat Kohli will be taking part in his fourth ever ICC ODI World Cup having been part of the team that won the tourney in 2011 which was his first ever appearance.

Virat Kohli seems to have been or is expecting to be inundated with requests for the ICC Cricket World Cup tickets by his friends.

Why else would he ‘humbly’ ask his friends via social media to not approach him for the tickets and instead enjoy the tournament from the comfort of their homes?

“As we approach the World Cup, I would humbly like to let all my friends know to not request me for tickets at all through the tournament. Enjoy from your homes pls,” Kohli posted on his Instagram stories on Wednesday morning.

Several cricketers in the past have admitted to have received requests from friends and extended family members for tickets ahead of or during major tournaments.

Meanwhile, Kohli joined his India teammates in Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) a day later on Tuesday after earlier flying to Mumbai due to personal reasons. He reportedly wouldn’t have been part of India’s warm-up match against the Netherlands had it not been washed out due to rain.

Indian team will open their world cup campaign against five-time champions Australia in Chennai on Sunday (October 8).

The Rohit Sharma-led side was slated to play two warm-up matches – against England and Netherlands – in the lead up to the tournament but both were abandoned due to rain.

The 2023 edition of the world cup is the fourth of Kohli’s storied international career. The 2011 world cup in India was his first ever appearance at the ODI showpiece and he went on to win the title under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.

He was the captain for the 2019 edition in England where India reached the semi-final where they lost to New Zealand.

On Wednesday, all 10 captains of the participating teams for the world cup will gather in Ahmedabad for a pre-tournament photo-op.

In the opening fixture of the tournament, defending champions England will take on New Zealand whom they beat in 2019 to win their maiden ODI world cup.
