New Zealand continue to produce record big wins and thanks to their third win, have retaken the top spot on the ODI World Cup points table.

New Zealand continue their winning march in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, storming to third win on the trot in Chennai on Friday. They defeated Bangladesh putting up yet another dominant show, overhauling the target of 246 in just 42.5 overs for an eight-wicket.

New Zealand, runners-up to the last two ODI World Cup editions, have started their run for the elusive trophy in style, hunting down defending champions England in the tournament opener before brushing aside the challenge of the Netherlands.

The contest saw the return of Kane Williamson who made a half-century on his international comeback after spending months on the sideline recovering from a knee injury. The issue didn’t bother the batting superstar but there was an injury scare after he was hit on the thumb while taking a run that saw him eventually retiring hurt.

For Bangladesh, it was their second defeat in a row and to make it worse, their captain and star performer Shakid Al Hasan has gone for scans raising injury fears.
