Australia Fan Chants 'Ganapati Bappa Morya' During AUS vs SL World Cup Game, Desis React

The ongoing Cricket World Cup in India has witnessed some crazy scenes. From fans donning jerseys of different teams to celebrating with rival nations, sports has once again brought communities together. A similar video has emerged on platform X which has taken Indian cricket fans by storm.

It was recorded during Australia’s third game against Sri Lanka which was hosted at the Ekana Sports City Stadium in Lucknow on October 16. In the video, an Australian supporter can be seen chanting Hindi slogans alongside the host crowd. The now gone viral clip was uploaded by a fan on X.

The video was also reposted by another fan account that received several reactions on X. The second post read, “Australian fan chanting ‘Ganpati Bappa, Moriya’ at the Ekana Stadium.”

One fan jokingly said that the Australian man’s chanting proved fruitful as it led them to win their game against Sri Lanka. He wrote, “That’s why they won”.

Another was just happy to see fans enjoying themselves to the fullest. She wrote, “Great to see the fans enjoying.”

One fan was happy to see the Aussie embrace the host nation’s culture as he wrote, “Sounds like Australian fans are fully embracing the Indian culture! Ganpati Bappa, Moriya! That’s the spirit! #LoveForIndianCulture”.

One of the fans was amazed at how similar the man looked to English cricketer Sam Curran. He jokingly wrote, “Sam Curran wearing Australian jersey and chanting Ganapati Bappa Morya. Power of Lord Ganesha.”

Another wrote, “Australian fans chant ‘Ganapati Bappa Morya’ and Australia team won the match.”

While things have been sailing smoothly for the hosts, Australia have gone through a bumpy ride in their first few games of the World Cup. The five-time winners of the marquee tournament conceded back-to-back losses in their first two games in India.

In their first match, they were beaten by the hosts after Virat Kohli joined forces with KL Rahul to form a rock-solid partnership in the game. The duo’s heroics were enough to push India over the finish line, securing a win by six wickets. In their second game, Quinton de Kock spearheaded South Africa to a 311-run total in the first innings.

Later, Kagiso Rabada scalped three Aussies to win the game by 134 runs. Australia’s first victory came in their third World Cup game against Sri Lanka at Lucknow. Adam Zampa plucked four wickets to curb the Sri Lankans at 209. In the second innings, Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis scored half-centuries to win the game by five wickets.
