2023 Kia Sonet Facelift Spied Again Ahead Of Launch, Clear Images Inside
The popular Kia Sonet compact SUV is getting a major facelift, with spy shots revealing exciting updates like alloy wheels, LED taillights, and a redesigned grille.

Kia’s popular compact SUV, the Sonet, made its global debut in 2020 and became the bestselling vehicle in India ever since.

While it has received a few minor updates over time, car enthusiasts have eagerly been waiting a major facelift and their wishes may soon come true.

Recent spy shots of the facelifted Sonet have surfaced, initially in South Korea in April and more recently the SUV has been seen undergoing tests in India. Kia has done an excellent job keeping the test vehicles under wraps, particularly at the front and rear, where major changes are expected to happen. Car enthusiasts are buzzing with excitement about the launch which is set to happen at the end of the year or early next year.

The upcoming facelift model promises several exciting changes, as seen in the images. One notable update is a fresh set of alloy wheels, likely to be 16 inches in size. Moving to the rear, despite the camouflage, we get a glimpse of the all-new L shaped LED taillight setup, which seems like inspired from the recently launched Seltos facelift.

Both the front and rear bumpers will see revisions and a larger, redesigned grille is also expected on the front. Additionally, the car makers will also introduce new colour options with this update, further enhancing the Sonet’s appeal to potential buyers.

While the South Korean version of the test vehicle featured red brake calipers, they appear to be missing from the Indian variant. On the other hand, a small portion beneath the side mirrors hints that the Sonet facelift could possibly come with a 360 degree parking camera system. Additionally, the lower bumper features a skid plate, adding to the SUV’s rugged appearance that offers enhanced protection.

Meanwhile, the 2024 version of the vehicle is anticipated to be equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a fully digital instrument cluster, a dashcam, updated upholstery and more. The current model already has features like electric sunroof, ventilated front seats and wireless charging.

Reportedly, the upcoming Sonet facelift is not expected to undergo any mechanical changes. It will maintain its current engine lineup, which includes the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine and the 1.5-liter diesel engine option.

This decision to retain the existing mechanism suggests that Kia is primarily focusing on improving the SUV’s aesthetics, features and overall appeal without making alterations to its performance. As the launch date approaches, we can anticipate more details about the 2024 Kia Sonet to emerge.
