When Mahira Khan Spoke About 1st Husband Ali Post Divorce: 'If People From... You Forget Bitterness'

Pakistani actress Mahira Khan recently tied the knot with businessman Salim Karim after dating him for several years. Several happy videos from the wedding have gone viral. This was Mahira’s second marriage. She was previously married to Ali Askari, with whom she exchanged vows in July 2007. The couple has a son named Azlan, born in 2009. Back in 2021, the actress opened up on her equation with Ali and coparenting their kid.

Opening up on her relationship with her ex-husband, Mahira stated, “I think that Azlan’s father and their family and my family, we are on the same page when it comes to Azlan. I’m very close to them, even now, as I have grown up in their house. It takes work, it takes swallowing your pride at times, and it takes trying to understand the other person. And for your child’s sake, you do it. If you’re lucky that people from both sides are good and looking at the child’s well-being and true happiness, then you forget the bitterness.”

Coming back to Mahira’s second wedding, she and Salim dated for almost 5 years before the wedding. Reportedly, they crossed paths for the first time back in 2017 at the launch of a television application called Tapmad TV. The actress, who is known for her Pakistani TV show Humsafar and working with Shah Rukh Khan on Raees, married Salim in an intimate wedding ceremony.

In the video, Mahira was seen walking down the aisle and uniting with her husband while her family and friends joined her in her happy moment.

The video revealed that Mahira picked a gorgeous ivory outfit which featured a long white veil for her special day. On the other hand, her husband chose a traditonal black sherwani. He styled the look with a blue turban. Mahira was seen making her way to an emotional Salim. The businessman welcomed Mahira with a kiss on her forehead. The video also revealed that Mahira had an open-air wedding ceremony with minimal decor. The video caught fans’ attention and they are showering Mahira with love and best wishes.

Mahira first opened up about Salim in a conversation in 2020. During Rewind with Samina Peerzada, Mahira confessed she was dating Salim. She shared more details about him during an Instagram Live with fashion mogul Hassan Sheheryar Yasin.

As reported by Pakistani outlet Dawn, Mahira said, “There’s a line in Humsafar which I thought was beautiful, where Ashar says to Khirad, ‘Pata nahi tum mujhay kis naiki ke badlay mein mili ho’ (I don’t know which good deed of mine led to you) and I think the same about him. I must have done something good in my life that God has sent him my way.”
